We are proud to announce that Reciprocal Space has won a platinum statuette at this year's Hermes Creative Awards!

The Hermes Creative Awards are held every year and recognise the best creative design studios in the world as assessed by the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals.

The winning animation was commissioned by a London start-up Greenstone Biolabs - which is revolutionising blood testing technology.

Our client requested an animation they could show to investors and stakeholders to help attract further investment into the company. The clarity of showing the inner workings of the device was of highest priority here. Fortunately, animation is an incredible tool to create visuals that would otherwise be impossible to film - especially with a medical device as small as this blood analyser.

We follow the travel of a drop of blood from the user’s finger to the channels of the device that perform the measurements. Different types of blood cells have their of physical characteristics and will interact differently with the channels of the device. One of the creative challenges was to create layers of complexity within the blood cells and animate them separately. When the cells go through the tight channels - the cell contents visibly react to the squeeze!
